Nice to meet you

I had a great, productive weekend on the campaign trail. It was a pleasure to meet so many good people. This weekend, I had a surprising amount of residents who stopped me in mid-sentence, told me that they’re already 100 percent behind me, and told me to spend my time spreading the word to others.

It was also good to speak with residents about our mayor race. As you know by now, there is only one qualified candidate: Scott Buck.

We know plenty about Sara Drew. She has voted “no” on only one spending measure during her nearly six years on council. She has never led, preferring to vote how her friends are voting.

Scott Buck has an open mind, and he will assess every government function to determine where waste exists, if any. He has a true background in economic development, as proven through his successful lobbying for business owners to stay and expand in Stow — and this is before he becomes mayor.

The question is: Are you ready to help? Can you talk to some neighbors? Can you text your friends? How about a Facebook status update?

The mayor race is very, very close right now. This last week very well could determine the future of our city. If every reader of this blog can tell five friends, then we can make it a blowout victory for fiscal responsibility.

Will you help? Use the “CONTACT MIKE” button above to get involved.

We will be working hard the next 10 days to ensure that November 8 is successful. I would really appreciate your help. Please spend a minute to talk with your neighbors, or parents during Trick-or-Treat, or your family about this election. Let them know that we need budget-conscious leaders.

Tonight’s council meeting

We had a relatively short council meeting tonight. It was the last council meeting before Nov. 8′s election, if that means anything. My notes are below…

Council met before the meeting in executive session to discuss the promotion of an employee to coordinator of Stow Youth Services. The employee will receive the same salary that she did before the promotion.

Leaf pickup has begun. The city has completed its first round on District 1. But the trucks will be back shortly, so please prepare accordingly. The district map is pasted below…

Matt Riehl and I will hold our open hours on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room at city hall. If you want to learn about what we stand for, or if either of us is someone you can support on Nov. 8, I encourage you to drop by and ask questions. I don’t mind if you disagree with me, and plan to not vote for me, but I do mind if you are intentionally ignorant of my positions because of something the Good Ole Boy Network has told you.
